Planning Your Visit

North Carolina Vascular Center is dedicated to providing our patients and their families with excellent care and service. We want your visit to go as smoothly as possible. We are conveniently located at 920 Lombard St., Suite 200 in Clayton. We have ample free parking with easy access to our offices. Please use the following resources to prepare for your visit.

At NCVC, we want you to have the best possible treatment and experience while in our care.

If you experience changes in your health prior to your procedure, let us know as soon as possible.

For your safety, a responsible adult driver (18 or older) must accompany you. And please wear loose comfortable clothing for your visit.

CHECK IN

Please come in and we will walk you through our simple and easy check-in process. You’ll fill out any necessary paperwork and, if applicable, take care of the co-payment at this time.

After Check In

Once you are checked in, you will be escorted to our pre-procedure area where you will need to change into a hospital gown. While you are being prepared for your procedure, our staff will:

• review your health history
• perform safety checks
• start IVs for fluids
• administer any medications your doctor may have ordered
• Prepare the access area

We will explain everything we are doing and answer any questions that you might have.

In addition to your safety, we want you to be as comfortable as possible. Warm blankets and additional pillows are all available for your comfort.

When it is time for your procedure, any friends or family that may be with you will be directed to our lobby. We prefer that they wait on-site while you are in your procedure.

Your Procedure

Each patient has individualized care and treatment. Your NCVC physician will speak with you and your family about your specific procedure. While we will be giving you medications to relax you and minimize any anxiety or pain, you will not be under general anesthesia during your procedure. Your medical team will be monitoring your vitals and you will be able to communicate with them.

After The Procedure

When your procedure is over, you will be moved back to your pre-op area to recover. We will bring your family back to be with you during your recovery. The doctor will come and update you and your family as soon as possible.

Recovery will take approximately 2-4 hours. You will need to lie quietly and our staff will continue to monitor fluids, vitals as well as the access site. You will be able to eat and drink fluids as soon as you wish after recovery. We have small snacks available and your family is allowed to bring food into your post-operative area.

After the requisite recovery time, we will have you up and walking around before you are discharged.

Discharge

We will review with you and your family any discharge instructions for your home care.

Your physician will advise you when you can resume normal activities and when you can return to work. Make sure you understand any restrictions, or limitations that you may have.
